Most Of The Moravians Were Craftsmen!

Hey there Reader!

Did you know most of the Moravians were craftsmen? The missions world needs artists. This week's gleanings make a strong case for this:

  • How art movements got their names. For the art history buffs out there, you might find this infographic fascinating.
  • Building trust through your art. Artists like Devon Rodriguez gets it. Art can instantly build trust with someone. I love this video showcasing how his sketches instantly broke down relational walls with people we might be intimidated by.
  • Be present. I did the Tough Mudder over the weekend. Our family got an Airbnb with a few other families. It was incredible. It made me consider how powerful it is to be present with others. Maybe consider getting a divorce from my phone in some way and soak up Cal Newport's Digital Minimalism.
  • The Moravians we craftsmen. J.D. Payne shared this awesome observation. I have made several visits to the small town where the Moravian movement started. Just a small group of faithful believers, seeking to do the Great Commission. Turns out, they were craftsmen!
  • How local song genre opened the floodgates for God's Word. Brian Schrag is one of the forerunners of the Ethnodoxology Network. In this video, Brian shares one of my all-time favorite stories where God used the local art forms to open the road for His Word in a community.
