INSPIRED BY

America isn't the only culture with worship songs.

I spent time with Pastor Una, a Papua New Guinea (PNG) pastor, back around 2012. For about one week, he showed me his way of life in the Eastern Highlands of this beautiful country. Not only was he a Pastor, he was a musician, farmer, gardener, builder, husband, father, and more. I asked if I could record him playing a local PNG worship song. This was what happened when I pressed "record."

New Guinea lyrics: Senis senis, life bilong me senis// Me pilim amamas long bel bilong me// Jesus yu stap life inside long me Oh senis I narakind tru// Before mi stap long olpela bel// Me no pilim amamas long bel bilong me// Jesus you stap life inside long me Oh senis inarakind tru

Una's English translation: Change change my life had changed// I am glad in my heart Jesus// You are life inside of me Oh change, I'm different!// Before I stay with old nature I didn't feel good in my heart// Jesus you are life in me Oh change is different!

EQUIPPED BY

One Jesus, Many Mentors.

What if, instead of attaching ourselves to only one mentor, we acknowledged we have one Jesus?

And what if we, instead, folded many mentors into our lives?

Did not God create a priesthood of all believers?

Is there a character trait or gifting you want to grow in? What if you found others who possessed those qualities already and apprenticed yourself to a multitude of mentors understanding all of their gifts come from God?

SENT WITH

John M. Frame on repenting over the church's intellectualism:

"If God address the intellect first, why does the Bible not have more propositional instruction? In fact, the Bible does not even distinguish sharply between intellect, will, and emotions. It addresses the whole person, together with all his or her faculties...The church, especially its Reformed branch, needs to frankly admit that intellectualism is an error to be corrected. Only then will it be in a position to serve as a patron of the arts. And only then can it effectively reach people with different educational, socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds."
